Where I Teach
Miles Ellington Turner
(aka) Big Mala Namaskar
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
Miles Turner (Big Mala Namaskar) was raised in West Philadelphia. He discovered yoga in 2014 and has studied, practiced and taught ever since. He earned his 500-hour yoga teacher certification at Yoga On Main in 2016 and currently teaches Seven Stage Inner Fire Yoga all over the City of Brotherly Love and surrounding areas.
His yoga journey began with an injury that developed into plantar fasciitis. Miles sought a pain relief solution that didn't involve doctors or pills. A serendipitous Internet search led him to investigate the healing powers of yoga. He sought additional information from the greatest source of Divine knowledge and wisdom available — his parents — and was taught the sun salutation by his mother. Miraculously, after 2 weeks of practice Miles' plantar fasciitis disappeared and he was feeling better than ever. Having seen the "yoga ghost" of health and wellness, Miles set out to do as much yoga as possible. He began his yoga teacher training at the oldest yoga school in Philadelphia, Yoga on Main, which opened opportunities for him to teach at dozens of locations. His yoga practice has brought a sense of peace and success not previously experienced in his life.
Miles has a passion for teaching children and aspires to teach yoga around the world, and to leave a global legacy of health and wellness for his daughter, Sage. Miles' style has been described as fresh, energetic, innovative, and his classes are crafted for whoever shows up to practice.
